Brian Mulkern
Partner and CEO

After several years in the Financial Services industry with both an Investment Management Company and two leading Mutual Fund service providers in various management roles, Brian began his staffing career. In 1988, he founded Excalibur Search, an executive recruitment firm focusing exclusively in Financial Services with an expertise in investment operations. In early 2002 in response to client demands, Brian expanded the service offering of Excalibur to include professional contract staffing that supported back-office and middle-office functions.

In 2005 with increased demand from clients, Brian merged Excalibur with Eastmark Consulting to form The Eastmark Group, a leading financial services industry provider of search, contract staffing and consulting to the industry of which he is currently Chief Executive Officer.

In addition to running The Eastmark Group, Brian is very active both in the recruiting industry and with local charities. His volunteer work includes:

  • Past-President and Treasurer of the Massachusetts Association of Personnel Services.

  • Co-Chairman of the New England Association of Personnel Services annual conference.

  • Board Member of Mutual Funds Against Cancer, a Jimmy Fund/ Dana Farber charity.

Larry McCarthy
Partner and COO

A native Bostonian with a BA in Economics from Framingham State College, Larry started his career in the Financial Services industry selling mutual funds. A year later he was introduced to and hired by State Street Bank as a Fund Accountant. In 1987, Larry transitioned his career to the staffing industry as a recruiter supporting the Financial Services Industry.

Over the next 20 plus years, he has held key sales and management roles for global leaders in the staffing industry before joining Eastmark Group as a Principal and the Chief Operating Officer in 2008. During his career in the staffing industry, Larry has supported the Financial Services industry from Boston to Washington D.C. in areas of executive search, staff augmentation and managed service programs.


Paul Bucuvalas
Partner and Managing Director/Consulting Services

A Financial Services professional with over 30 years experience in the Investment Company Industry. Paul's successful leadership roles range from Fund Accounting Supervisor at State Street Bank to Managing Director of Custody and Global Operations Putnam.

In his tenure, he has grown operations in Fund Accounting, Portfolio Accounting, Shareholder Services, Custody Services, Transfer Agent Operations and Banking Operations. Paul joined Eastmark as a Principle in 2008 to build and lead the Consulting Services division.
